Don't know if you have already discussed this book or not, but I just finished John O'Brien's "At Home In The Heart of Appalachia". It's an interesting read. He weaves together living in Appalachia with the fatalistic attitude his father instilled in him. Sort of a "we never have anything but bad luck & we don't deserve anything good because we're hillbillies" attitude. I honestly don't think anybody but another Appalachian could fully appreciate and relate to it. I never realized how much of that stuff continues to echo in my head to this day. I wish you & several of your readers could read and discuss this book. It sure conjured up a lot of childhood memories for me. I know y'all would recognize some too.

You say don't roll your eyes as if an unwanted evangelist has appeared at your door. That's way different than somebody showing up on fire with the love of a good book. And they think enough of me that they want to share it! What a gift ! Thank you.
